The notion of ‘reflective practice’ lies at the basis of the office philosophy of Döll Group / Döll Architects. It stands for an attitude whereby we deploy creativity and innovation in order to tackle projects in an undogmatic way. Our focus is on the interaction between the brief and the design in an open communication between clients, future users and architects. Our clients are both from the public sector (including governments, healthcare institutions, education, housing corporations) and the private sector (including investors, project developers, companies, private individuals). Over the years we have developed solid relationships with our clients and are atuned to each other. We are able to work quickly and efficiently and deliver services to their full satisfaction. Architecture, urban planning and interior design are the core activities. The expertise comprises urban design (master planning, supervision), buildings (schools & universities, offices, retail, town halls, theatres etc.), housing (apartments and houses) as well as interior design (offices, retail, housing). Sustainability and ecological building is obviously integrated in our projects. The architectonic style can be characterized as modern with a modest use of architectural resources and mixed with (local) tradition. To us designing means giving form to identity. In a continuous interdisciplinary and international exchange Coido Architects works in an open and dialogue oriented way. Core idea is the search for a conclusive, strong basic idea, that unites spatial-esthetic quality with a solid functional concept. The innovative and simultaneous pragmatic dealing with structure and technique, as well as the careful fit with clients and consultants comes first. Our clients are both from the public and the private sector. Architecture, urban planning and interior design are the core activities. Sustainability and ecological building is obviously integrated in the projects. Since the start of Coido Architects in 2006, several projects were realized, both in Hamburg and other German Cities. Among them are the renovation and extension of the monumental Klockmannhaus (1860) for Generator Hostels opposite the Hamburg Central Station and the Office Building with showroom and training facilities for Stulz Technologies. The goal of Energy Floors is to create awareness about energy consumption by making it interactive and fun and therefor relating it to the human scale. By implementing energy generating floors and inspiring applications at events and locations worldwide, we create unique experiences for our clients audiences. We sell and rent Energy Floors, including applications and energy experiences. Among our respected clients are Nokia, Google, Toyota, Volkswagen, Coca Cola, Heineken, Smirnoff, Philips, E-on, Disney WWF, Puma and Shell. Energy Floors finds its origin in the research project 'When Nature Calls' by Enviu - Innovators in Sustainability and Döll Architects. The research project resulted in in a concept for a Sustainable Dance Club which was officially launched in Rotterdam in 2006. The Company was founded in 2007 and realized the first Sustainable Dance Floor in 2008: 'The Dancer'. Since then the floors were present on numerous events around the globe and have been permanently installed in several museums worldwide. The product portfolio was recently broadened with new types of floors, often combined with walkable solar panels. 'The Walker' is a more generic version, designed for high footfall areas, such as fairs, shopping malls, airports, railway stations, gyms etc. 'The Gamer' challenges children to play interactive energy games on the school playground, while educating about sustainable energy.
