Developed a solution that turns retail shelves into data rich environments by using the latest in AI and machine learning together with sensors and smart devices to interact with customers. The project created an end-to-end solution providing a single view on, product velocity, shopper behaviour, engagement and demographics. A key element of the technology is based on the ability to detect and analyse faces, recognise key demographic features such as gender and age, and then trigger content, such as adverts, promotions, or interactions using technologies such as a touch display. The Center for Space Research has been operating four neutron monitor (NM) stations since the 1960s. To upgrade the aging electronics in the NMs, I developed a new electronic system. The aim of the new electronic design is to be modular so that it can be easily adapted to stationary or mobile NMs. The system uses commercial-off-the-shelf components and publicly-available software where possible. The system is also designed for easy maintenance and calibration. It is affordable, shielded against electromagnetic interference and it makes the data available on the internet in real-time. The electronic system also features a fast acquisition system for pulse shape recording and microsecond accurate event timestamps. Pulse profiles are used for calibration and integrity testing to ensure long term stability. The accurate timestamps make multiplicity and time-of-arrival studies possible. Show less

SANAE IV is a South African Antarctic research base providing a permanent year-round base for scientists undertaking research projects. There are various scientific instruments running year round such as high frequency radar, neutron monitor, riometer, seismometer. The overwintering team remains at the base during winter between February and December looking after the base and instruments.
