Bio
John Gorman
David has worked for me for years. In all that time he has always done excellent work in a timely manner. He has never disappointed me but rather has been one of my most pro-active employees, always getting the job done on budget and on time. David is a leader of his peers, keeping everyone together, on task and on track.
David Yurek
First and foremost, Dave is a personable teammate. That isn't to say that his other skills are lacking, however. Our stint working together (and I use the word 'stint' because it was far too short a time to work with such a great man) was one of the best and most productive work experiences to date. I knew, while walking into work on any day, that any challenges he and I were going to face, Dave would step up and face those challenges with me with grace and determination while keeping a cool demeanor. Dave and I were, for the longest time, a team of two, a dynamic duo. I knew I could count on Dave to pick up and slack I may have had and, importantly, I felt like he could trust me and count of me to help him as well. It was that professional trust that let us grow professionally and intellectually in the software world. Dave also exemplifies a great wealth of knowledge in may aspects of is personal and professional world. Not only has he been a professional in the tech world for a while now, but he is also a creative individual personally. If you know Dave long enough, you will learn that he built a custom car. Not a kit car; a car from scratch. He is an avid craftsman. And it is that creativity and critical thinking and really brings a fresh perspective and new ideas to the workplace. That is an invaluable quality and a quality that inspired me to work more with my hands in my free time. I started off saying that Dave is a personable teammate and I wanted to come full circle and end on that note. You will be hard pressed to find someone who is both as professional and as much of a pleasure to work with as Dave Hempy. I do, indeed, recommend Dave and I hope one day I have the pleasure of working with him again.

I develop backend API's supporting employee heath and benefits selection at Jellyvision. Working on an AWS Rails stack, my team connects our clients' employees with the health care options offered by their employer. Our software considers that person's history, intent, and expectations with their employer's offerings and federal programs and tax considerations to recommend what is the best fit from them to choose. We use kanban to support a steady flow of new features, structural improvements and tech debt payback on a suite of decade-old interconnected services.
