Hem and I worked together at CDRI (Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure) from 2020 to 2022. Hem was the Lead Specialist Research and he was a mentor figure for several colleagues at the office. He was a positive influence on the office culture. Hem had the unique ability of being consistently polite, humble and respectful irrespective of the station or rank of the person he was interacting with. He sincerely believed he could learn something from every person he met. He was calmly assertive and firm when the situation demanded it. I saw him complete a host of projects at CDRI against all odds. It has truly been a pleasure working with him.
