Community Cultural Development has always played an integral role in my professional life and I am passionate about the advantages participation in the arts can bring to a vibrant and healthy society. I have been involved in Community Cultural Development since 1999 from volunteering in the beginning, working with schools as part of a local government initiative in Glasgow, UK, to up-skill artists with professional development tools and experience as well as with the Community Arts team in Aberdeen, UK. I was employed as a youth worker and applied my training and experience to facilitating various cultural activities such as skating trips, bands nights and dancing competitions. More recently since my move to Australia, I have worked for the City of Mandurah as an Arts and Culture Development Officer, overseeing a variety of projects, from public artworks, community pop-up shops, and festival projects. I have undertaken numerous Community Engagement projects for the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, working with various members of the community, building connections between their experiences and the themes of various performances at the centre. Presently I am a marketing officer at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, though my role is not limited to the production of collateral for the media and digital material. I have undertaken several community engagement projects as well as working closely with Riptide, the centre's Contemporary Youth Performance Company in an administrative and supportive capacity. I am involved in devising a youth strategy for The Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. I have delivered presentations about community engagement and audience development to overseas students associated with Edith Cowan University.
