Advise university personnel and researchers on all matters in relation to IP - Intellectual Property and contract law. Facilitate academics in the Medical and Dental School, and the Life Science aspect of Engineering & Physical Sciences School, to achieve significant research grant funding, by helping with IP sections on grant applications. Draft CDAs/NDAs, Option Agreements and Licence agreements. Negotiate license deals. Capture all IP from the research outputs of the university, as records of inventions. Assess patentability of technology from inventors. Liaise and engage with Patent Attorneys to protect our technologies and instruct patent drafting, and arrange further training. Deal with Patent Office actions with Patent Attorneys and Inventors. Determine relevancy of citations identified by Patent Examiners, versus our technology. Manage our portfolio of records of inventions, patents, licenses & spin-out companies effectively. Project management. Assess commercial viability of projects, and conduct market testing with healthcare professionals and industry. Commercialise research outputs (therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, biomarkers and research reagents) from the university via licence agreements with industry, and forming spin-out companies. Liaise and engage Commercial Consultants with the relevant technology and commercial expertise for specific projects and spin-out companies. Engage with Venture Capital firms for investment into specific projects. Partner and collaborate with companies to jointly apply for Innovate UK funding.
