My role includes organising content for both the online version and the monthly print edition, proof reading other students articles and hold regular writers meetings to discuss writers ideas and constantly improve the news content of the magazine. During my time in this role one of our leading stories made it into the top five most read stories online, with over 500 students reading the story in a fortnight. My work with the committee also led to the readership of Platform online doubling from the original figure of 1500.

I completed a one-month internship at one of the leading food PR companies in the UK – Roche Communications. I spent my time writing press packs for restaurant openings including one of the Drake & Morgan restaurants, organising invites and researching ideas for opening events outside of London. During one of my researching projects I got one of their clients, The Revere Pub Company’s pubs the Curious Pig in the Parlour into the Gatwick Airport customer magazine, offering an exclusive deal to those flying from Gatwick. I was also operating restaurants’ Twitter and Facebook accounts, using monitoring tools such as hootsuite. I sat through numerous client meetings, where important decisions were made, often pitching in with new ideas.
