I've had the pleasure of working with Helena at Failbetter Games for over 3 years now, and she's quite simply the best office manager I've worked with in 10 years in the games industry. Incredibly hardworking, efficient and competent; her work is very behind-the-scenes and can often go unnoticed but it's the backbone of what allows us to thrive creatively as a small indie studio. She recently won the MCV/Develop IRL award for 'Lockdown Hero' which was much deserved, and I think my nomination for her — though a fraction of what she does as our Operations Manager and Book Keeper — speaks for itself with regards to what an amazing colleague she is and how she always goes the extra mile: "Helena, always unappreciated behind the scenes, is incredible at ensuring the smooth operation of our studio, but during the lockdown she was a literal hero. She was instrumental and phenomenally fast in organising couriers to get everyone’s equipment delivered to their home: PCs, monitors, even Devkits. Months later, she organised the office closure after we decided to become permanently remote. We’d only moved into that office a few months before lockdown (another move she single-handedly organised) and she drove 2 hours into London, risking herself, to pack everything away into storage. All of this whilst pregnant with her second child and dealing with her own house move. Wonder woman! Before maternity leave, she continued to make sure everyone had everything they needed as we adapted to this new way of working. Don’t know where we’d be without her. Hope she wins. She’s MY lockdown hero and she deserves it!"
