I am a recently graduated Osteopath (from the ESO), and a (very) mature student. I have known Helena for nearly 2 years, initially as a Clinic Tutor, and more recently as a supervisor for our reflective work, and now as a colleague. As a Clinic Tutor Helena is hugely positive and supportive and she provides enthusiastic feedback for the whole patient process. She is very experienced and keen to pass on new treatment/testing techniques as required. As a student you cannot fail to learn from her or be inspired by her positivity and enthusiasm for the task. As Portfolio Supervisor, Helena was given the unenviable task of teaching a very old dog, what seemed to me at the outset to be very difficult new tricks. She approached the task with her customary enthusiasm and throughout the process maintained great patience, which led to a finished article that I could be proud of, which was by no means certain at the outset. As reflection is going to be such a big part of my future development, I am grateful to Helena for providing such a solid base of understanding from which to start. There is a saying that the best teachers show you where to look but they don’t tell you what to see. Helena encourages you to look just that little bit harder and to discover things for yourself!
