Helen is one of those rare managers who says, "I need you to jump this-high," and you say, "Sure, when?" Doling out just-right dollops of appropriate praise and guidance, she manages to move you in the direction she and the company/product need you to go, while encouraging you to go in the direction that will benefit you, too. No small feat that. She's funny, serious, focused, freewheeling, personable (that is, Brene Brown vulnerable) and professional -- that secret-sauce blend and balance of a whole person that makes a good manager better. The depth and breadth of her life and work experiences clearly inform her holistic management style, while she also models the performance and attitude you should want for yourself anyway. It's hard to find Helen-style managers. I've been lucky; that or I seek out work only with and for them, so if you ever get the chance to work with and/or for her, take it. And then ask her about Tina Fey.
