Clincal Midwife

Responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation and the evaluation of the delivery of patient care in hospital and within the community. Coordinated multidisciplinary services to ensure a high standard of health care delivery specialising in the Antenatal Clinic, Aboriginal medical service and home visiting service. Identified patient education needs on a daily basis and implemented patient teaching, one to one and within small groups. Planned and facilitated nursing activities and performed the role of shift coordinator when required. Facilitated other staff in their development of competencies and actively participated in unit based decision making by attending regular meetings. Accountable for the safe, efficient and effective use of resources, including assisting with the forward planning of the department. My position included using a high level of clinical skills, performing blood and specimen collection, cannulation, medical examinations, administering IV and oral drugs to adults and neonates, resuscitation, neonatal screening and medical emergencies.
