Aquatherm is a plastic pipework manufacturer and supplier where I was advising on pipe design on a daily basis and put costs together to produce competitive tenders. I worked with mechanical drawings and schematics regularly to do material take offs and to advise customers on their requirements. I also created prefabrication drawings based on customer sketches and put together quotations based on these. I also put together a CPD seminar called 'Plastic piping systems in the building services industry' which I took out and presented to different companies in the industry. This CPD was approved by the Construction CPD Certification Service and was a successful tool for the company to get a foot in the door with new prospective customers. To summarise; my job duties were to:- • advise customers on what product suited them best based on their requirements • do material take offs in order to produce competitive tenders for new projects • advise our customers on pressure losses, velocities and permissible operating conditions as well as other aspects that aids the pipe system design • offer support to calculate the thermal expansion of the pipework, give advice on how to overcome any problems the expansion might cause and to create drawings to reflect the advice given • create pre-fabrication drawings using AutoCAD • advise on product approvals and to make sure they comply with UK regulations • produce technical submittals, method statements and expansion drawings • offer daily support to our sales team who often needed to have their questions answered quickly • daily communication with our German manufacturer • visit customers, distributors and networking events to promote our products and also to present our CPD seminar Show less
