My time at Langford Vets Small Animal Referral Hospital has allowed me to obtain substantial experience as an RVN. Due to the multi- disciplinary nature of the hospital and its role as the University of Bristol’s dedicated teaching facility, I have gained an extensive knowledge of high standard clinical practice. My teaching role led me to receive a Clinical Teaching Award for Best Clinical Teacher at Langford Vets. As part of Langford Vets continuous improvement strategy, I was nominated to become the Hospital Flow Coordinator with the express responsibility of enhancing patient flow through the hospital to maximise case load, efficacy of care, and workload management. I began my time at Langford as a dedicated anaesthesia nurse. As anaesthesia and radiology are key facilitators within the hospital, they are an essential part of ensuring the swift and safe movement of patients. My time as an anaesthesia nurse therefore has helped with my progression into the Flow Coordinator role. Therefore, in this role I am responsible for communicating with all disciplines to accommodate patient procedures and timetabling of case load. My time in this role has allowed me to cultivate my skills in administration and communication, logistics, time management, organisation, and multiple software usage. In the past year, my role has expanded to include a dedicated portion of my working week as Continuous Improvement Lead across the hospital. This involves researching and observing current practices and any improvements which can be made to impact efficiency, efficacy, quality of care, and productivity. My role includes meetings with senior members of the hospital team and working in an advisory capacity to improve the workflow across a variety of areas. Show less

I joined Vale Vets as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse and became a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse, with both first opinion and referral case loads during my two years of training. Due to the inclusion of first opinion and referral in my early career, I was able to develop expertise and experience in a wide array of specialisms, including: Cardiology, Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopaedics, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology and Exotics, along with visiting Dermatology, MRI and CT. My role as an RVN was customer facing and collaborative with colleagues. Additionally, I ran puppy parties, held nurse clinics, and gained reception experience, which advanced my customer care. I was promoted to Head Theatre Nurse, where I acquired more logistical and administrative responsibilities and gained a proven record as a responsible and reliable member of the hospital. Show less

My 18 years of veterinary clinical experience began as a Hospital Assistant at Rowe Veterinary Group. This position was largely supportive, therefore included a considerable amount of administration and logistical support to my colleagues. Through my responsibility for drug and consumable orders alongside stock checks, I learnt the importance of well managed logistics in the veterinary profession. Alongside this, I began to directly observe and assist with medical procedures as my colleagues’ trust in me grew. Show less
