As Head of MS&T at Polpharma I was responsible for establishing this new function at the interlink between production and development, including the recruitment of new members to the team. At the same time supporting 2 biosimilar projects in preparation for GMP manufacture and Process Validation. It was a busy, exciting and great time, travelling to Gdansk every week. But after a year it was time to reduce that massive carbon footprint I have left behind. Since Dec 19 I am working mostly from home in the UK, supporting the team in Poland as MS&T advisor. Reviewing data, supporting deviation investigations, writing protocols, reports or validation documentation or just be available for a good scientific discussion over the phone - that's my job at the moment. And yes, I miss being in the middle of a laboratory..... Show less

I have responsibility for process development and GMP manufacture of novel investigational medicinal products for early phase clinical trials. Working as part of Cancer Research UK's Centre for Drug Development I am heading a team of 20 staff in our purpose built state of the art biomanufacturing facility. The variety of products ranging from monoclonal antibodies to cell therapy products make this quite challenging, but at the same time hugely rewarding, once we send these novel therapies off to start a first in man clinical trial.
