The Can:Do Group is comprised of The Royal South Australian Deaf Society (Deaf Can:Do) and Townsend House (Can:Do 4Kids). Deaf Can:Do (DCD) and Can:Do 4Kids (CD4Ks) are disability service providers that focus on providing contemporary services for clients (and their families) with sensory impairment. The Can:Do Group also owns and manages Can:Do Hearing (CDH), a social enterprise full service audiology clinic. My GM role within the Can:Do Group Senior Leadership Team is to manage the day to day operations of all service delivery across DCD, CD4Ks and CDH while providing strategic growth opportunities to the organisation. I lead a team of five client service managers and 55 staff. The professionals I work with include adult and paediatric audiologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers, early intervention specialists, Auslan interpreters and tutors, community service support workers, assistive technology specialists, teachers and a stellar administration team. In my role as Deputy CE I represent the CDG in a variety of forums locally, and nationally. I am able to communicate in Auslan.I have acted in the role of Chief Executive three times for a total of 6 months from 2014 to 2017.

General Manager Can:Do Hearing

Apr 2005 - Jun 2015
I started the Can:Do Hearing business in 2005 for the Royal SA Deaf Society. Over the last 9 years I have grown the business to 3 permanent sites, 3 visiting sites, 6 audiologists and 7 administrative staff. I have added additional revenue streams such as a private paediatric business and community education and outreach. I have created strategic partnerships with many organisations such as Flinders University, Turner Freeman, and Leedall Presentation Systems. I have grown the brand of both Can:Do Hearing and the Can:Do Group via a variety of professional opportunities such as a monthly spot on ABC 891 as a hearing expert discussing any topic related to hearing and hearing lossAs a member of the senior leadership team I work across the organisation on a variety of initiatives, highlighting my skills in business analysis, team building and leadership. In April 2014 I acted as the Chief Executive of the Can:Do Group which further developed my leadership and team building skills as well as enhanced my stakeholder engagement experience.

I undertook a 6 month position with AFDS in order to analyse and further develop their sign language interpreting business, Sign Language Communications (SLC). During this six month period I engaged with stakeholders, conducted market research, interviewed employees, attended conferences and meetings across Australia, did financial modeling and researched overseas interpreting business models in order to write a comprehensive report for the five CEOs of the various Australian Deaf Societies.

District Manager

2002 - 2005
My responsibilities included day to day operational management as well as directing and providing clinical services in an urban setting and regional and remote communities. I created a new employee structure based on the needs of regional Australia and the local Indigenous communities which was quite unique compared to the other 70+ Australian Hearing clinics. As the district manager of Australian Hearing in Darwin I was able to orchestrate a financial turnaround from a net loss of $500k to a break even result within one year. This transformation in business earned me an individual Australia Day award in 2004.

Audiologist
-
2000 - 2002
During my first 2 years with Australian Hearing I developed excellent clinical and personal skills. I saw a variety of clients from age 6 months to 100+. I had the privilege of working at the National Acoustic Laboratories in Sydney on a 3 month clinical trial on comparing features across a range of digital hearing aids.
