Description The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia’s vision is for minerals research to advance Western Australia To achieve this we: • have an IMPACTFUL RESEARCH program where applied research creates capability and delivers economic and social benefit for Western Australia; • provide COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH LEADERSHIP so industry, academic and government relationships can activate innovation and research networks attracting investment in high value activities; • enable KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER so minerals research outcomes are implemented to deliver value for the State. MRIWA is a statutory body established by the Western Australian Government in 2013 under the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia Act 2013. MRIWA’s primary function is to provide and administer funding grants to carry out minerals research. The Board reviews all applications for funding, and seeks advice from any necessary advisory committees, to help inform its decisions. Members of the College are called upon from time-to-time to participate on a Grant Assessment Panel as a subject matter expert. Subject matter experts have technical knowledge and experience in one or more thematic area within the MRIWA Research Priority Plan and utilise this knowledge to provide an assessment of the technical merit of the research grant application. The Climate Fresk is a serious game on climate change, which aims to cover the fundamentals of climate science in a fun and interactive way. Who is it for? If you are new to the climate change challenge, this is the best 3 hours you can spend on the topic. If you already have a lot of knowledge, you will discover a tool to raise awareness and empower others around you. It also makes a great group activity so invite your friends. How it works? The workshop is based on a 42-cards game. Each card represents an element of the climate system. As a team, guided by a facilitator, you will identify the cause-effect relationship between the different mechanisms and forces at play. Use the power of collective intelligence to solve the climate puzzle! This step-by-step creation of the ‘Fresk’ provides keys to understand the big picture of climate change and its complexity. After building the Fresk, you will engage in a productive discussion on solutions and actions. Agenda Build your Fresk - ˆ90min Reflection & Feelings - 15min Solutions & Actions - 60min Events are run by volunteers. Fees go to Climate Fresk. The Climate fresk generates enthusiasm: one finds in it the joy of understanding, of acting together, of stimulating one’s creativity – all of this without denying the seriousness of the situation nor the urgency of acting efficiently, with solidarity and in an informed manner. Joy is found in reopening possibilities. Show less
