Hebe was a fun, vibrant & hard working part of our Leeds Hub HR Team. Working in such a small team it was vital to work together and communicate effectively. Hebe has strong organisation skills as well as being able to relate well to people and hold difficult conversations when needed. Hebe led on trust wide projects and made a positive impact by coming up with new ways of working. For example moving the new starter induction to be fully remote and online working with the marketing team. I know Hebe will do well in all that she does in life with her determination and drive. It really has been a pleasure working with you, thank you for all you have done.

My role at the University of Manchester involves supporting the day-to-day running of the Christie’s Bistro, and service of events for esteemed academics, colleagues, and members of the public, including weddings, graduations, and other high-profile events. Maintaining a positive attitude throughout shifts and communicating well with team members has been important, to ensure successful service with several events carried out simultaneously. To adapt to the COVID-19 circumstances and still provide prospective students with the experience, knowledge and insights they would have gained at university open days, I registered as a student ambassador on this online platform. Since lockdown measures had been put into place, I have been a point of contact for any prospective students who have had queries regarding uni life, accommodation, courses, or anything else they would like to know. The role involved talking to prospective students about the university, answering their queries regarding accommodation, courses or general campus life, and taking them on guided tours. It has developed my networking and interpersonal skills and demonstrated my ability to discuss course knowledge.

I served at various food outlets across NTU campuses, building on my food service skills gained from previous employment. These are typically fast-paced, so the ability to learn quickly has been vital.

While working at this hotel, I improved on my bar and food service experience gained from Lea Marston, confidently serving at a large event. I demonstrated that I could be a fast learner, by adapting to new till systems and different menus, for example. During my time at the 4-star Lea Marston Hotel, I acquired new skills and demonstrated my ability in customer food service - particularly working in the 2 rosette Adderley restaurant. As a food and beverage assistant, I have consistently provided a professional, friendly and engaging service, routinely supported other areas of the restaurant and assisted colleagues whenever possible. Experience working in different bars in the hotel enabled me to learn how to cope well under the pressure of a faster-paced area. In the role, I have demonstrated the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others in order to reach key business goals and providing genuine hospitality while establishing rapport with guests. Business successes included the Investors In People accreditation, ranking number one on Trip Advisor, and further financial investment to grow the business.

I worked for the conference and events team in this hotel, setting up for events and involving myself in customer and food service. Being employed since the age of 15 has allowed me to build my confidence in customer-facing roles and in different teams, using my initiative where appropriate.
