Not only is Heather knowledgeable and articulate, but she is an absolute pleasure to work with. Her writing and editorial skills are unmatched. I've have the pleasure of working with Heather on many projects and she always gets the job done well. She takes great pride in building relationships with people and listening to their stories. Heather brings integrity and intelligence to her work and I believe her overall presence has a positive impact on every project she works on. Overall, Heather is a an amazing leader with a heart of gold.

Dr. Christine W. Thorpe

Heather has been such a fantastic resource for PR and marketing. She has helped me most recently with generating ideas and strategies for publicizing my book. I will always refer Heather to friends and colleagues in need of a great person to work with on their projects. Heather also heads a non-profit organization and I am completely impressed with the work she does with girls.

Department of English Monmouth University W. Long Branch, NJ 07450 30 October 2018 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing in strong support of Heather Mistretta, a one-time colleague and current friend who has given exceptional service to Monmouth University in the years she spent as Assistant Editor in the Department of Communications and University Relations. Heather has all the skills that are important to successful candidates working in publishing, publications, or media relations. She is smart, creative, hardworking, an excellent researcher and writer, a prose stylist, and both a team player, able to collaborate easily with others, and a self-driven independent worker, able to initiate, organize, and complete projects without any supervision. She is exceptionally gracious and kind and thoughtful, making a good impression on anyone she comes in contact with. In her capacity as journalist, her personality is one of her most valuable assets, as she puts people at ease and brings out the best in them by making them feel interesting and eager to share their words and feelings with Heather. I know Heather very well because she has not only worked on articles about me for the University Magazine or for the Faces of Monmouth web profile series for the University webpage, but she also took three graduate courses with me in the English Department. As an adult graduate student, Heather is every professor’s dream. She is committed to the project of learning, is a close and careful reader of complex creative works and of abstract literary criticism and theory, and is an excellent writer who engages in authentic and sophisticated ways with the texts and questions under discussion. She is also exceptionally organized and persistent—how else could a full-time employee with numerous writing and editing obligations succeed with the additional demands of an advanced, heavy-reading-and-writing graduate class? Heather is adaptable and so thoroughly at ease with words that she seems to switch effortlessly between writing, editing, and media management tasks: finishing an article for the Monmouth Magazine in the morning, organizing the annual Women’s Forum in the Leon Hess Business School or promoting a new MU student-initiated website in the afternoon, and reading, discussing, and writing about psychoanalytic or poststructuralist theory or George Orwell’s novels or T. S. Eliot’s poetry in the evening. If there is anything else I can do to support Heather Mistretta’s application for a position in your organization, please do not hesitate to contact me. I’d be happy to talk in more detail about her many talents and skills. She’s simply a lovely person and consummate professional. Sincerely, Kristin Bluemel Professor, Department of English Wayne D. McMurray Endowed Chair in the Humanities kbluemel@monmouth.edu 732-571-3622

Pressing Releases’ approach is highly personal and customized. Each client’s story is unique, so my goal is to determine the voice of my clients and the audience to which they are broadcasting. Having extensive experience in both creative and technical writing, I like to infuse creativity into technical writing and superior technical skills into my creative content. The end result is content that is informative (with the appropriate SEO), accurate and outside the box. I lead a professional writing service that doesn't stop at just crafting powerful press releases. I also offer other writing services like LinkedIn profile creation/maintenance, brand development, website content (using WordPress and other management systems), abstracts, blogs, letters, biographies, copywriting, obituaries, promotional copy, speechwriting, white papers, communication planning, book coaching and much more. Lead a not-for-profit organization who believes education is the means to prevent abuse and violence against women and girls. We do this through mentoring for girls and boys, resourcing, fundraising and partnering with like-minded organizations. In the past three years, I have made valuable connections in Uganda, India, Nigeria and South Africa, enabling us to broaden our scope and outreach. I also handle all the correspondence, communication planning and stewardship. WAGE is dedicated to bolstering self-esteems and tapping into the power within. Through all facets of education, we believe we can help prevent and end violence and abuse. It all started in the cafeteria of a university. We came from quite different backgrounds and present situations, but somehow, it seemed to work. Through conversation, research and consultation with others, we ironed out our mission, created bylaws and filed for 501 (c) 3 status, stumbling and learning along the way. Through perseverance and a passion to help others, WAGE was born. Thankful for all those who helped make this group a reality. The foundation you set in 2013 still keeps us strong. Today, we are still that small group striving to do more and continuing to grow. Show less

Wrote, edited and conceptualized content of quarterly award-winning alumni magazine and annual honor roll and acted as a strong University steward by editing and creating marketing and public relations copy for departments on campus and maintaining strong relationships with alumni, faculty, deans and students. - Overhauled the content of the Monmouth University website in conjunction with the consulting firm, Defined Logic. I was responsible for writing the majority of the brand stories and acted as an important source of knowledge and insight for the team, leading to more engagement and a broader focus on our alumni. Much of the content that is still on their home page is mine. - Wrote professor profiles for "Faces of Monmouth" website marketing campaign. - Part of three-person team to compile a book on Monmouth University's involvement with superstorm Sandy; was named the main editor for the final product. - Wrote and edited correspondence and other alumni material including press releases. - Interviewed prominent Monmouth University alumni and current students and maintained those relationships. - Wrote solicitation and thank you letters and strong proposal copy to major donors from the president and vice president. - Organized the viewing in the athletic center of “Coming off the DL,” an independent film about cerebral palsy directed by two alumni. The viewing was an important social statement and was effective in attracting various members of the community, including trustees, alumni and athletes. - One of main organizers for annual 5K at Monmouth University to benefit the Kortney Rose Foundation. - Spearheaded and promoted inaugural women’s forum in November 2013. I held the second one April 30, 2015. Show less
