When I started as a student at Pitt-Johnstown, campus activities were either dead or non-existent. After Heather was hired, I've watched engagement skyrocket. Heather has been fighting an uphill battle from the moment she got here, but she's been doing an excellent job to increase engagement. Heather's endless dedication and passion towards student life, leadership, and growth for campus organizations is unmatched. Heather is undoubtedly the best asset this campus has in regards to the success and growth of campus activities. Heather has had a vision for this campus from the start and I've watched her work tirelessly to make the campus a vibrant and fun community to be a part of. Responsible for a comprehensive student engagement plan that includes the advising of the Pitt-Johnstown Program Board, the Student Government Association, the weekend program initiative, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and providing leadership to the New Student Orientation program. Responsible for the ethical stewardship of student fees, overseeing student organizations, and providing community service opportunities. Also responsible for the delivery of the Mountain Cat Express program (buses home), the coordination of major events such as Homecoming and the Mountain Cat Awards for student organizations. In addition, responsible for the weekend activities and retention efforts, the training of clubs and organizations regarding social policies, and the delivery of Title IX programming for clubs and organizations. As a Senior Director on the Student Affairs team, provide support to colleagues and students on the CARE team and assist in on-call rotation. I served as an integral part of the delivery of student services in an active student activities environment. My primary duties were in managing budgets, assisting over 150 student organizations, implementing the orientation program for over 3000 first year students, and coordinating traditional and annual events on campus. I also advised two funding boards including the "Programming" board and the Cultural Board for a total of approximately $1 million dollars in student activity fee funding. Provided leadership and support to these two boards (approximately 10 student organizations) as well as the nearly 200 registered student organizations. Implemented traditional campus events, including Campus Life Night, Homecoming and Siblings Weekend. Advised Spotlight Productions (Program Board) and implemented a comprehensive film series, Laker Late Night Initiative., hosted major concerts on campus, and developed creative marketing to reach a student body of approximately 22,000 students. Overhauled the fall new student orientation program, Transitions, and selected, trained and evaluated student leaders to support 3000 first year students.
