On-call 24-hours a day to oversee emergency communication between country teams and the headquarter office in Toronto. Issues included, but were not limited to, political conflict, civil unrest, environmental instability and staff/client illness. Monitored the political landscape of Kenya, Ghana, Nicaragua, Ecuador, China, India and Mexico, implementing staff evacuation when necessary and connecting with insurance providers on a regular basis. Provided the Toronto office with regular written and oral updates on the existing security risks (and precautionary measures) which exist in the field. Effectively communicated with all country teams, taking into consideration cultural norms while ensuring that a clear, centralized message was conveyed. Utilized Salesforce, DataBase, Adobe, Power Point, MS Word and Excel on a daily basis, streamlining all communication and increasing workplace effectiveness.

Responsible for the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, policies, guidelines and directives to each appeal case. Tools interpreted on a daily basis included; The Customs Act, Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act, Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Act and Directives Memoranda. Conducted research and analysis in order to prepare position papers for the Department of Justice, which were then defended at the Canadian International Trade Tribunal. Attended case hearings at the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, taking notes and relaying relevant information to the Recourse Directorate Adjudicated files in a timely manner, relaying relevant information to both the litigators and claimants while maintaining neutrality, redacting all classified information. Prepared memoranda informing CBSA program areas and field operations across Canada of cases being appealed to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and Federal Court of Appeal. Managed the opening and closing of files and conducted correspondence with litigators and appellants as necessary Acted as a volunteer canvasser for the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign, organizing events and facilitating directorate-wide information sessions regarding the United Way and subsidiary organizations.
