I assist doctors, technicians, and surgery technicians as needed. I float between kennel duties and small tech appointments. Kennel duties include feeding, watering, walking, and keeping an eye on animals that are boarding. It can also include baths and other special requests for the boarders. Floating between tech appointments consists of nail trims, blood tests, laser treatments, or anything that doesn't require a doctor exam. I prepped cats and dogs for spays and neuters. I administered induction meds, pre meds, pain meds, post meds, microchips and other vaccinations. I also intubated the animals and controlled the isoflurane and oxygen levels according to the size of the animals. I shaved and sterilized the areas that were being performed surgery on. Between those duties, I did post op care for the animals in their cages and kennels as well as the pre op animals. I prepped cats and dogs for spays and neuters.
