*Classroom teacher responsible for educating students with mild to moderate cognitive impairments in the district’s self contained special education classroom for grades kindergarten through fifth grade. *Plan and implement lesson plans based on Michigan’s common core essential elements. *Work collaboratively with general education and essentials teachers, related service providers, administrators and parents to meet the individual needs of students. *Implement visual supports to lessons, classroom environment, schedules and to support communication systems for students. *Create and manage schedules for students and health care aides. *Serve as mentor teacher, teacher leader for elementary special education team and member of numerous school committees. *Facilitate IEP, child study, professional learning committee and parent teacher conference meetings.
