It has been a tremendous pleasure to meet professionals like Heather through my AAT activities. And even more to get to know her better as I was elected to be Vice President, and the active mentoring she has given me despite her busy schedule in being our current President. I have found Heather a caring, conscientious and the ultimate professional. It has been a real challenge for her to be taking AAT forward with a new Chief Executive, and leading the way to bringing back the face to face networking we had prior to the Pandemic. Heather is a stalwart advocate for Branch involvement, to bring people together for both formal and informal connections, and that our AAT members form a rich mix of talent that we should be encouraging to help us in the direction of AAT now and for the future. I look forward to working with her for some time to come, in raising the standard of the accounting profession, and championing our members and students.

As a member of AAT Council I contribute to the strategic development of the association, securing its respected position within the profession.As well as serving on the Board of Trustees, I have served on the Management Board, Members Services Board, Audit Board as Vice Chair and Investment Panel. As President of the AAT, I am responsible for:• overseeing the strategic development and future direction of the AAT working with the CEO and the Executive Team;• representing the AAT at international and national events such as International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) sessions and awards ceremonies;• chairing the Board of Trustees (Council) and I am an ex-officio member of other advisory Boards including Management Board, Nominations and Governance Board and Remuneration Board;• working with the trustees, and in particular, the Vice President /Chair of Management Board to ensure our activities and budgets are closely aligned, to meet our charitable purpose and ensure our charitable resources are effectively managed; and• writing articles for the AAT journal, being interviewed for articles and providing comments and responses to the business on matters pertaining to accounting and the small business sector. My role is to deputise for the President of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). I also support the President as ambassador for what is recognised as the world’s leading professional body of accounting technicians with a global membership of c. 130,000. I also assist in overseeing the strategic development and future direction of the AAT working with the CEO and the Executive Team to ensure the organisation’s activities and budgets are closely aligned and that resources are effectively managed to meet its charitable objectives.I am Vice Chair of the AAT Council and Chair of the Management Board.I seek to develop external relationships for the AAT.I attend the AAT’s nationwide network of branches to connect with our members and students and to show support of the branches - achieved through online IT applications. Since October 2021, in-person events have been reinstated and there is now a mix of online and in-person events. Show less
