Creative Dundee creates spaces to enable opportunities, galvanise action and profile the city so that citizens and visitors alike can access, experience and enjoy Dundee’s active creative scene, and also leads collaborative projects which generate local, national and international opportunities for people and the city - to support Dundee’s strong creative ecology. The Board was first established in March 2016 and so, as a new Board, we began by exploring how to support taking the organisation forward, the highlight to date being a successful application to become a Regularly Funded Organisation in Creative Scotland’s 2018-21 portfolio. If you would like to join Creative Dundee and make our city even better for everyone, have your voice heard and make the world as passionate about Dundee’s creative scene as we all are, then do check out our Amps supporters network by clicking the link below. ASPIRE (Drama) Programme Producer and Drama Artist

In returning to my freelance practice, Dundee City Council commissioned me to work with them directly to continue producing the programme and to also become the Drama Artist resident within the P3-7 classes at St. Francis Primary (3 days per week). As Producer, I have designed a year-round programme of cross-curricular drama projects for a recently constructed shared campus, comprising Longhaugh Primary, St. Francis Primary, Quarry View Nursery and neighbouring Longhaugh Nursery. I am responsible for recruiting, training and supporting the Drama Artist team, timetabling the programme of approximately 40 groups per week, managing the budget, ensuring we meet project outcomes, and identifying ways to enrich the project further with in-school performances by companies such as Theatre in Schools Scotland, Tortoise in a Nutshell and Shaper/Caper. Through each of their projects, the pupils use drama to explore and respond to stories, objects, places, landmarks, people, themes or pieces of live performance, with robust links to the Curriculum for Excellence. Within each setting there are also opportunities for sharing learning with other classes and creating end of project performances for audiences of pupils, families and friends. As such, projects are bespoke and tailored to each individual class, with each workshop developing as a response to the previous one. Through participating in our work, pupils become more confident and inquisitive, they learn to work better both individually and in teams, and they find they are more able to give and receive feedback in a safe, supported and positive environment. Then, in Autumn 2009, Scottish Refugee Council commissioned me to tour a version of the Exhibition around Glasgow secondary schools, to design and deliver education workshops for the pupils, and to write an Activities Pack for use in the classroom. Building on the success of this, in late 2010 the outreach programme toured again, this time reaching a number of secondary schools in Glasgow, Inverclyde and East Ayrshire. This second tour also gave me the opportunity to engage with groups of pupils from the Visible Fictions ‘State of Emergency’ project, working with them to further their knowledge of what it is like to be displaced by war.
