  Project Somos works with impoverished Guatemalan Mayan families addressing two major issues; education and health. Children from the surrounding communities come to Project Somos to receive quality education and healthy food. As well as the regular curriculum, Somos offers extra programming in arts, English, sports and yoga.   Since 1989 I have been involved in the Festival. I started as a volunteer on the Plates Committee, became the Plates Coordinator, then the Volunteer Coordinator in 1996, on the Board for two years following that, manager of the Main Stage Green Room, then Community Development Coordinator 2006-2008 and then back to the Green Room! Since 1989 I have been involved in the Festival.
