Heather is my supervisor at Olympic College, and has been the best supervisor I’ve ever had. She is also my mentor and cheerleader. She is an amazing leader who is always there for her team when we need her, who is always student-centered, who develops you with your strength and nurture you to strengthen your weaknesses, and who makes tough decisions because it needs to made at a right time. I’ve never met anyone like Heather who is happy, powerful, and caring. She never avoid asking for her own feedback from her team in order to continue evolving to be the best leader ever. Thanks to her, our team keeps growing and has become the most (or one of?) high-performance team ever!!

Heather provides a wealth of practical leadership experience to any organization. She is energetic, intelligent, articulate, and a team player. I have had the pleasure to know Heather for 12 years. I first served as Heather's direct supervisor for six years that we worked together at South Puget Sound Community College. For the past six years we have continued to work as colleagues in Education. Heather sets high standards for herself and her team, leading by example with compassion. She has strong organizational, communication and leadership skills. I have no doubt that Heather will be successful in whatever leadership opportunity she chooses.

I am detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and outgoing; these qualities allow me to communicate effectively with students, as well as colleagues in person, by phone, and in writing. I serve on a number of committees at the College, including hiring (administrative/exempt and classified), faculty tenure, as well as standing committees for the continuous improvement of the College. I also serve as the liaison between community colleges and the NAFSA International Student and Scholar Services Regulatory Practice subcommittee. Having worked in various positions and institutions, I have experienced all aspects of the admissions process. As an admissions counselor, I have recruited, qualified, counseled, and helped retain prospective and current students. I specialize in international transcript evaluation. Strong ties with stakeholders both in and out of the College is extremely important to me. I created the 1st paperless office at SPS, developed a comprehensive advising strategy to increase the average international student GPA from a 2.4 to a 3.6, improved the retention rate of international students by placing each student on an education plan and providing students with quarterly academic advising, as well as assisted students graduating with transferring to 4-year institutions. I developed and implemented a strategic and cohesive branding message for SPSCC’s overseas marketing plan, tailored to specific countries, as well as represented my College in overseas fairs. As a result of these efforts, we were able to maintain our international student population with no increase in the budget and while seeing our international students graduate at a faster rate.I supervise, evaluate, and lead the International Student Services & Study Abroad staff and work-study students. I am also responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the program aligns with the current strategic plan and also has strong ties to the overall mission and vision of the College.
