As part of my position with Kent Messenger Group I worked night-shifts within pre-press on the Guardian Newspaper. This involved processing digital files, making ready for press, plate-making and generally ensuring the paper could be printed on time on-site at the KM. This included monitoring for new editions and problem solving. Back in the days of paste-up and when you were allowed to smoke on the bus. I was hand cutting Ruby and rubbing Letraset and spent most of my time in the darkroom making pozzies, getting filthy cleaning squeegies in the screen room wearing a paper suit, mixing ink and making lots of unwanted pots of colour, or getting static shocks and squashed in the 8 colour. I also designed for Ann Summers - but that's a whole other story... Then I left to go and live in Spain for a bit. Back in the days of paste-up and when you were allowed to smoke on the bus.
