We provide sustainable, active and cultural connections and experiences in Montenegro and the Western Balkans region. Our focus is on working with local guides and family tourism businesses to bring our clients into direct contact with real cultures and communities away from tourism hotspots. Black Mountain is a member of the Leave No Trace network and together with UNDP Montenegro was responsible for bringing Leave No Trace to Montenegro in 2008 to train local guides, park rangers and tourism businesses as Master Educators. Black Mountain is also a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). We are members of the Via Dinarica Alliance, promoting and operating activity tours on the Via Dinarica trans national trail. Show less

Co-founder and Director of NGO Adventure Race Montenegro. The NGO was established to support Montenegro's first series of annual adventure races, in an effort to establish, boost and promote adventure sports tourism in the country. The series also included 2 longer format races (2 day and 48 hour non-stop) supported by USAID and UNDP agencies and involved local sports people, guides, climbers and kayakers in training, preparing and designing the courses and events. The races included running / hiking / kayaking / zip wires / scrambling and mountain biking across spectacular areas of Montenegro's wilderness mountains, forests, canyons and lakes. The events brought journalistic focus to the potential for the growth of sports tourism to the country and also attracted international pro and amateur adventure racers to take part. The series ran from 2007 until 2012 and the NGO is still in existence, now lending support to local grass roots events developed since by local adventure racers inspired by the original series (ie skyracing and vertical kilometer events, triathlon etc).
