  In my role of Lifeguard at Beatty Park Leisure Centre, my main goal was to educate children and their parents on water safety and ways to prevent drowning. I utilised various interpersonal communication skills when interacting with patrons of varying demographics at the facility and was able to negotiate with irate customers using de-escalation techniques. As a Lifeguard, I worked collaboratively within a team to maintain customer satisfaction, cleanliness within the facility, identify areas of concern and ascertain reliable methods for correction of issues. For example, every two hours I would check water reading to keep chemicals at safe levels, avoiding potential illnesses among patrons. I ensured compliance with pool policies and procedures, detailing safety rules regarding recreational activities to patrons. This role allowed me to become highly trained within the aquatic and health sectors, leading me to complete the following certificates: - Advanced Resuscitation - Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Senior First Aid Show less
