  For five years I piloted and developed a bilingual kindergarten program in order to service Spanish-speaking English Language Learners (ELLs) and celebrate their bilingualism. I worked with the Illinois Resource Center (IRC), attended various workshops and conferences, and took graduate courses in order to better my knowledge in this field. With the help of the program director and later on, an additional bilingual kindergarten teacher, I presented district plans for the ELL program to the school board, staff and faculty, as well as prospective parents of bilingual students.
