As a proud Aboriginal woman and Leading Educator, I value my professional role and strive to connect with our local and extended Aboriginal communities. I also appreciate it’s about the lives behind the data. I always adopt a common practice founded on building rich, respectful and trustworthy relationships with all Aboriginal children/families I work with, holding them in unconditional positive regard and journeying alongside them throughout all stages of their schooling to be lifelong learners. Whether transitioning into a new care placement, starting kindergarten, starting high school or a class from another educational setting, I implement appropriate adaptations to support students to recognise their potential and develop a safe space where all students feel valued and have a voice.
