Edinburgh, United Kingdom My primary role as crew at EUSA has been setting up and operating sound and lighting equipment as required for events organised by a variety of different clients, ranging from student societies to externally promoted live music events. I became "Senior Crew" in September 2015, taking on additional responsibilities including training and support of other crew members.

Edinburgh, United Kingdom In November 2013 Craig Snowden, Lewis Eason and I founded SparkSeat LLP - an event eticketing service. I am primarily responsible for the development of the various different components of the system, including the Ruby on Rails based API, the Backbone.JS based box office console, and the Cordova based ticket validation and admittance mobile application. However, as a designated partner my responsibilities also include keeping on top of the company's accounts and legal obligations, such as filing an annual return and tax return. As part of our service we often set up and staff temporary box offices for our clients, giving me experience in a "customer facing" role. I also have to regularly deal with customer support requests via email. Show less

Edinburgh, United Kingdom In my third Fringe at The Pleasance Grand, I took on additional responsibilities as one of the more senior members of venue crew. Edinburgh, United Kingdom During the 2 month period that I spent at FreeAgent, my primary task was to assist in migrating the main FreeAgent Ruby on Rails application from Rails 3.2 to Rails 4.1. This involved working with a second intern, and later another group of two developers to update legacy code so that it would work in the later version of the Rails framework. The majority of these changes were then back-ported to the master branch of the application (still running Rails 3.2), so that the risk of… Show more During the 2 month period that I spent at FreeAgent, my primary task was to assist in migrating the main FreeAgent Ruby on Rails application from Rails 3.2 to Rails 4.1. Edinburgh, United Kingdom During my second Fringe festival with The Pleasance I was once again working in The Grand, although this time as LX1. My primary responsibilities involved looking after lighting for the venue and ensuring that hot power was provided as required by the visiting companies. I also assisted with the set up of the whole Pleasance site for the two weeks prior to the festival.

Edinburgh, United Kingdom Working as venue crew for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the first time, I was fortunate to have been allocated "The Grand" - the largest temporary theatre space at the Fringe. During the festival the crew were responsible for the smooth running of the venue from 12:00 until 01:00. While we were split into shifts for a large part of the festival, there were a number of occasions where I, along with the rest of the crew, were present in the venue for the whole day. Following the festival I assisted in the whole site get out, during which the 23 temporary venues are returned to their normal "term-time" state. Show less
