Outreach Ambassador

Jun 2022 - Present
STEM Fellowship is a Canadian registered charity that uses mentorship and experiential learning to equip the next generation of change-makers with indispensable skills in data science and scholarly writing. I just began volunteering with this organization (after my entrance interview) and thrive to promote the organization and its many initiatives in local communities, as well as, aiding in getting more students across Canada involved and aware of its programs. Outreach Ambassadors work with their own respective regional teams to collaborate on region-specific outreach projects, as well as acting as representatives of the organization at promotional booths at STEM-related events. They also participate in providing the organization’s executives with feedback on program development in order to obtain authentic student opinions and concerns to address the needs that programs may have yet to meet. I am currently a key member of the BC team consisting of about 7 like-minded students. We actively set goals for STEM development in British Columbia and frequently attend STEM conferences to voice our opinions. We have provincial team meetings every week for about 30 minutes and engage in both academic discussion as well as work blocks where we work towards executing our ideas creatively. Show less

The purpose of the MSA will be to gather muslim students at Seaquam for the purpose of performing daily prayer in congregation. Many muslim students around the school approached me with the conflict that they are not able to perform their daily prayer, and are missing out on a major portion of their religion, prayer. This is heavily due to time constraints. Many students are forced to miss classes on some days, in order to perform their prayer on time. I took this struggle to my heart, an decided to raise my voice and opt for change. I spent a major chunk of time meeting with Seaquam administration for the purpose of establishing this facility for students. After much hard work, I have managed to book a room, and now lead many muslim students at Seaquam in prayer every single day. The association I have created also acts as a school club in its purpose of educating others and correcting stereotypes. We will also work closely with the Student Council and Multiculturalism Club to incorporate culture into Eid and Ramadan events. It is important to note that the MSA is not a religious association, but rather an academic one with the motive to clear any misconceptions and no intent to proselytize. As this problem is not only with regards to Seaquam, in the future, I am currently working with the University of British Columbia (UBC) to establish a General Board that acts as an MSA coalition for high schools in BC.This will help us stay communicated with other schools, whilst allowing us to take this initiative to students that do not yet have this privilege. Founder and Club President
-
Nov 2022 - Present
I am the founder and standing president of the new Seaquam Investors Society. This initiative is both creativity and service as it involves many creative processes such as problem solving, collaboration, and improvisation. Myself, along with a good friend of mine started this school-based initiative in the form of a club that is easily accessible to all students at Seaquam. The purpose of the club is to educate other students on the both global and domestic economic markets, how these markets impact one's personal finances, how we (as students) should spend our money effectively (saving money), and what we should do with the rest of the money we have left over (relevant to today's economic situation). We will also delve into relevant economic concepts such as supply and demand, interest rate fluctuation (and how they impact us), and inflation. This is done in the form of biweekly meeting in Room 1103. I am also the lead presenter with regards to the club, and commonly take initiative and tackle challenges within the club, as a result. I plan to continue this initiative as it is truly something that students can benefit from. Show less
