I have had the privileged to directly supervise Mr. Hashem Daghestani since his joining to Bab Rizq Jameel in 2014 as a manager of SME and Entrepreneurship programs. His outstanding performance led him to grow very rabidly within the organization and manage even bigger projects such as MITEF Saudi Chapter in 2015. Mr. Hashem’s knowledge, network and passion contributed directly to the success of our programs. He developed leading programs and initiatives supporting local ecosystem in microfinance and entrepreneurship fields. I recommend him as a confident and competent professional in the field.

Al-Baydh Project

Saudi Arabia
-
Director of Operations
-
Jan 2014 - Dec 2015
the Al Baydha Project formally commenced under the King Faisal Foundation on 29 May, 2013 with a main objective to help the people establish a permanent economy that is environmentally, financially, and culturally sustainable. Al Baydha is an area between Jeddah and Makkah that was once a forest and has become a desert. There is a population of 3000 Bedou living there at the moment. They live under extreme poverty and have no basic infrastructure; no healthcare facility, communication line, adequate housing, electricity, water and so on. A foundational belief of the project is that the preservation, mitigation and/or restoration of indigenous natural and environmental systems can not only eliminate poverty within an individual or a community, but actually create a surplus of these means and resources, thereby generating wealth. We also believe that the Arabian Peninsula can be systematically converted from desert to forest, beginning with the Hijaz and cascading eastward toward the gulf, such that the landscape and its natural systems will thrive and enable the people who inhabit them to thrive in equal measure
