Harvinder and I worked together at LogicaCMG and at Xenicom to bring new functionality and performance to the Odyssey Radio Planning product. Our roles were designed to temper each other though they quickly grew to be highly complementary; I would push for ever more functionality of the highest quality to be created within the tightest timescales and Harvinder would manage these expectations with a deep knowledge of the capabilities of her development team combined with the skills to nurture and encourage the most out of that team. It was clear that, through release after release of the product, Harvinder always knew exactly what could be achieved, by whom and with what contingency. Alongside these managerial skills, Harvinder possessed a strong technical background which bridged the gaps between the existing codebase, the functional requirements being put forward and the user stories that fed into the feature set. This gave her a unique ability to rapidly appreciate both the issues and the approaches to their resolution. Harvinder's capabilities and her consistency gave confidence to the whole of the organisation and to our customers that we could and would always deliver what we hoped to deliver.

I reported directly to Harvinder for a number of years in my role as a principal developer, with work focused on the ongoing development and maintenance of the Odyssey Radio Planning product. During that time, Harvinder was responsive and flexible in her approach to her development manager role.
