Born in Tokyo.Her documentaries have been screened at numerous Film Festivals: Her short film Back Home was screened at DOC NYC 2019, won the best documentary at Big Muddy Film Festival (IL, USA) 2018, and has been picked up by a French distributor.Haruka’s documentaries interweave intimate, personal, and cultural memories with deeply artistic visuals, reflecting on her background in visual art practice.Currently she is working on a documentary utilizing 35mm film images and digital camera together that echoes with the feeling of nostalgia for her hometown Tokyo.She holds an MFA in film from the City College of New York and a BFA in Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
