JIVAM is a grassroots organization located in the Village-Kheowali, Sirsa, Haryana, India. We believe in the strength and resiliency of rural people and think the best way to bring progress in villages is to empower their communities. I was initially recruited as the Social Media and Outreach Lead and my job responsibilities were to increase the followers on all platforms of social media. In order to do that I had to use skills from my digital marketing course about using relevant hashtags on every post and making sure that every caption is relatable. The caption was not supposed to be too long or just text. I even learnt how to create and maintain a social media calendar that had all the details of a social media post so that anyone from the team could make the post in case I couldn't for any reason. Later, I was made the Curriculum Developer at JIVAM and my role was to design the mathematics curriculum for kids starting from grade 1. I had to refer to the national syllabus and use different techniques such as translations, visual imagery or mnemonics to make it easier for the children to understand the syllabus because the children of this village had difficulties understanding English. Finance is something that I have always been inclined towards because it creates extraordinary methods to move wealth around the country. I was selected as the President of the Finance Club and used it to pass on the same understanding of Finance to my juniors. - The primary action we took as the new team was to spread awareness and create a passion in young minds. - We started by posting weekly on Instagram about common financial market terminology and made presentations for members on the Bull and Bear market. - We conduct a month-long virtual stock investment competition, which took 3 months to begin because of the planning and orientation sessions. - Webinars were held to explain the basics of investment to all students from grades 9-12.
