Research Coordinator

Oct 2015 - Dec 2017
• My role involves being sent assignments which include creating resource bundles for particular cases and exploring current persecutions of mostly minority sectors of society. • I am in charge of a team of three people and act as a link between the team and Asylum Justice. • These assignments are based on real cases of Asylum Seekers who have been refused Legal Aid. It is important in my role to give a thorough report on the background to the case. • It is not only a time-pressured role as many of these cases are moved up or adjourned at short notice, but as there are so many requests for legal advice, it is a challenging and fulfilling role. Work Experience
-
Jul 2015 - Jul 2015
• In both July of 2014 and 2015, I undertook work experience at 3 Temple Gardens. The court cases involved serious criminal offences. • It gave me valuable experience in how to communicate effectively with a client who has little knowledge of the justice system. • Sat in with both the client and the barrister gaining an excellent perspective in how one should deal with clients effectively. • Discussed major concerns about how the problems with Legal Aid were affecting the Criminal Bar and the problem of the introduction of Fees for applying to the Employment Tribunal. I was able to view and discuss cases including a Housing Appeal, an Immigration Appeal and a Claimant suing for a quarter of a million dollars in commission. • Discussed with HHJ Saggerson and other judges about wider fields of Law including Commercial and Employment Law. Many of the judges having previously practised in these areas. Show less

• I was given many responsibilities including doing foundational research in an invasion of privacy matter. • I was tasked with the role of calling up the Local Council and finding out more information on a certain area of land that a client had put in a claim for planning permission. • Working in the Public Relations departments I was instructed to establish contact with a variety of Embassies in London to connect the firm with any international or private client problems arising from the Embassies in London.
