   Guided by my passion for helping others to live better lives, I stumbled upon a huge lack of innovation in the shellfish industry. I co-founded Green Mountain Aquaculture with the aim of empowering farmers and driving positive environmental impact by disrupting the shellfish industry. We applied novel biotechnology to commercial shellfish production in order to more efficiently produce target species and applied for a patent on this technology.  As CFO I am responsible for bringing in investment, keeping track of our burn rate and runway, and being in charge of the general financial state of affairs  I currently have a patent pending on our proprietary breeding method (triploidy) for 21 different species of shellfish.    Under the direction and mentorship of Dr. Hamilton O. Smith, I performed bioengineering research in the Synthetic Biology & Bioenergy lab at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) in La Jolla, CA.  While working on the scientific side, I also conducted statistical and mathematical/financial analyses for various scientific experiments.  Worked with the Chief Financial Officer on budgeting, grant writing, and calculating cost/benefit analyses.  Worked on projects funded by DARPA and collaborated with the Salk Institute and Stanford University  Won the silver medal against 20 PhD candidates for a summer research project  Second author of a paper published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences on Gross Chromosomal Rearrangements in Kluyveromyces marxianus Revealed by Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Sequencing.
