Research and Programs Intern
-
Jan 2023 - Aug 2023
The Global Council for Science and the Environment (formerly National Council for Science and the Environment) is a non-governmental organization that seeks to improve the scientific basis for environmental decision making. As a research a programs intern, I assist specifically in conducting research for the Pathways to Accreditation initiative - an organizational effort towards the goal of a program-level accreditation in higher education that "sets flexible standards to guide programs towards quality, accessible, and context-relevant teaching and learning." The Pathways to Accreditation initiative confronts the relevant issue of discrepancies among sustainability programs' titles, levels, scope, and scale in higher education, thereby confusing students, educators, professionals, and employers in educational inconsistencies. Second Place at Sustainable Fashion Pitch Competition
-
Feb 2023 - Feb 2023
My four teammates and myself, who have recently begun the development of a trade-and-rent platform start-up, WAISTED, took home Second Place out of 15 teams at the Sustainable Fashion Pitch Competition, hosted in collaboration by the Northeastern University Entrepreneurs Club and the Hult Prize Foundation. WAISTED is a college community based clothing exchange and rental platform. As WAISTED, we hope to change the trajectory of overconsumption in college culture. The outsource, single-use, and abandonment cycle perpetrated by fast fashion and increasing trend cycles must be abandoned by the demographic that is knowingly the most passionate, influential and revolutionary. College students can make passive income from their rarely-worn clothes, while lessening the impact of transportation emissions, single-use plastics, and overconsumption on the environment. Let's get WAISTED, so we can party sustainably, and in style! Show less
