I found working on the Macmillan Support Line both incredibly rewarding and challenging in equal measure. Knowing you have helped someone on the end of the call, at a time they don't know where to turn, was humbling and powerful. Day to day I would answer calls as they came in, so never knew what was coming next. We would listen, offer emotional support and direct callers to local support. My brother and I took over our Father's joinery company and ran it in partnership. This was perhaps the most varied and full on role I have held, involving duties such as: Recruitment, Accounting, Salaries, Secretary, Social Media Manager and all round Executive Assistant to the Director! It taught me first hand what it takes to run a successful business. My brother and I took over our Father's joinery company and ran it in partnership.
