Mikko Saavalainen
Harri Siikala worked in my team between 2000-2006. He was responsible for the marketing of camera products to Russia, Baltic States and other former SU countries. In this position he co-operated with Canon European HQ and our sales offices and customers in the market. In 2000-2006 Harris product groups achieved excellent results in terms of growth and profitability. Part of the result was due to a new and exploding digital camera market, but Canon also gained market share and improved its position in sales channels. Canon also became the number one camera brand in these markets under Harris watch. Harri has deep knowledge of the photo products and of the industry as a whole. On top of my Canon Consumer Imaging Marketing Manager position, i held the role of Sales Director for retail and distribution channels, Finland and Baltic's. Main achievement was to maintain market leadership and positive P/L while in a turbulent market situation during the imaging market decline period. Position included supervisor responsibilities for a team of 7 individuals.Markkinointipäällikön tehtävieni ohessa toimin myös tukku- ja vähittäismyynnin myyntijohtajana ja 7 henkisen myyntitiimin esimiehenä. As a Product Marketing Manager i had the responsibility of sales and marketing of Sony camera products within Finnish markets. This required close and efficient co-op with local sales organization and Sony Europe product management. Key task was to create and implement marketing initiatives and campaigns together with local channel marketing. Also a lot of time was spent with Finnish press and journalists. Kameroiden tuotemarkkinointipäällikkönä Suomessa vastasin markkinoinnin suunnittelusta ja toimenpiteiden toteutuksesta sekä myynnistä yhdessä myyntiorganisaation kanssa. Olin näin ollen erittäin vahvasti mukana hoitamassa asiakkuuksia. Tuolloin Sony lanseerasi uuden tuoteryhmän, digitaaliset järjestelmäkamerat, joiden lanseerauksesta ja menestymisestä olin vastuussa. Keväällä 2007 saavutimmekin #2 position markkinoilla, yhtenä ensimmäisistä sen saavuttaneista maista.Main achievement was to reach #2 position for Sony within D-SLR markets in Finland. Canon North East Oy was responsible for sales and marketing of Canon products in CIS countries. I was the Marketing Manager for camera products during 1996 to 2007. Main task was to secure that Canon can exploit the market potential to it's maximum and that market leadership is achievement and maintained. Main challenge was to manage the growth (and the crisis) from "one room office" to becoming top 3 in Europe in terms of revenues. This included issues like personnel, logistics and geography but also the strategies, terms & conditions, channel management and sales & marketing strategies and activities. Main achievements were: - Managing growth and crisis - Increase sales from 0 to 250m€ annually - Becoming #1 in market area - Building a solid Canon Imaging business and brand to the markets - Creating a market entry plan and a solid distribution strategy CNE Oy vastasi Canonin tuotteiden myynnistä ja markkinoinnista entisen Neuvostoliiton alueella. Suurimmat markkina-alueet olivat Venäjä, Baltian maat, Ukraina sekä Kazakstan. Roolissani vastasin kameroiden markkinoinnista sekä myynnistä koko markkina-alueella. Toiminnan alkaessa kirjaimellisesti tyhjästä, olivat tarpeelliset toimet ja vastuut varsin laaja-alaisia, mutta toiminnan vakiinnuttua tehtäväni olivat markkinointi- ja jakelustrategian luominen ja toteuttaminen sekä myynnin saavuttaminen asetettujen tavoitteiden mukaisesti. Kaupan kasvaessa alueellisia toimistoja perustettiin useita ja vuosina 2000-2001 vietin 6kk Moskovassa. Ajanjakson tärkeimpiä yksittäisiä saavutuksia on vaikea yksilöidä koska kyseessä oli pitkä ajanjakso ja yhtiö sekä markkinat jatkuvassa muutoksessa. Se että Canon saavutti markkinajohtajuuden kaikilla markkina-alueilla, loimme vankan brändimielikuvan, toimivan myynti- ja jakeluorganisaation maantieteellisesti valtavalle alueelle sekä liikevaihdon kasvu Euroopan top 3 maaksi (kamerat 250m €, 2005) ovat kaikki varmasti mainitsemisen arvoisia saavutuksia.
