Bio
Tom Papanek
Harold joined the Professional/Midwest division of Dentsply as Manufacturing Engineering Manager and truly revitalized the department by addressing employee deficiencies, mentoring his people, and becoming directly involved in manufacturing and product sustaining issues. For the first time, problems were being systematically solved and my R&D staff could step back from their sustaining work. Harold exhibited a strong grasp of complex technical problems and the unique challenges of operating in an FDA regulated environment. In early 2006, the incumbent Director of Operations was promoted to another Dentsply division and Harold stepped up to the Director role. Clearly not an easy transition, since this left the Mfg Eng group without a manager, the Manufacturing Operations Manager had recently resigned, and the Materials group was short-handed. Harold really rose to the challenge of filling the Director role and covering the two vacant manager slots. Not only were there no hiccups in manufacturing output, Harold and his people continued to improve manufacturing processes, implement Lean Manufacturing, reduce product costs, hire the needed people, and complete union contract negotiations..
