GIS Analyst/CAD & Survey technician
-
Jan 2012 - Aug 2017
I started as a GIS Analyst and slowly made a transition into the survey/CAD by developing more CAD and survey skills. Since my transition to Brisbane I have managed to keep a balance between GIS and CAD with ongoing projects on both spatial fronts. Some of my project experiences are listed below. Bundaberg Flood Mitigation Web mapping Role to develop a method of sharing and providing information on the numerous flood mitigation options for the Bundaberg council consultations as an interactive map -Developed web mapping tools for fast and easy navigation for non-spatial audience to view on various mobile devices. -Problem solving of new technology within the given time to provide a quality output with the requested tools and capabilities. Great Northern Highway Expansion Project My role as a survey assistant in the field was to survey various sections of road and property boundaries. In the office I was also tasked to create Land dealing plans and assist in calculating land acquisition. I gained skills in -GPS and Total station pick up of rail and feature survey to an accurate degree of measure. -Establishing of survey control and understanding the methodology of survey done out in the field. Composite Services Mapping My role in this long term project was the processing of survey data provided from site of composite services above and below ground. I would process incoming data to standards and provide to contractors for permits. This was also an important method to consolidate all site services into one central location for future use and proved to be a valuable resource for data management for construction and of their mine sites.I gained skills in -CAD software in processing survey data. -Data management skills in maintaining numerous amounts of incoming and outgoing data and communicating with contractors and surveyors regarding inquiries and data issues. -Developing client relationship and providing a healthy workflow as requested by the client. GIS Analyst

Jan 2011 - Feb 2011
GIS placement at SARDI under Flinders University. I was placed in a project which is about how coral reefs would recover after storms and cyclones that would hit the Heron Islands (Great Barrier Reef) quiet often and what factors determine the re-growth of the species of coral that are growing in that region. My job as a GIS analyst was to find a means of digitizing all the images that were collected for and during this project since the 1960’s and georectify them with valid information on the corals within the digitized data. This also involved stitching numerous photographs taken prior to 2000 as digital cameras were not used in the project. The images once stitched were georectified to positions provided to me of where the photos were taken. Once each image was rectified then the coral within the image were digitized and for each coral a unique ID field, name and specie code was given. Show less
