  Since the first tournament took place in 2001, this tournament has developed continious. Meanwhile it belongs to one of the best tournaments in Europe.The quality is also well recognized by the participants (Clubs-Academy). Since 2004 the tournament has an important social impact which is an important component for the young people, spectators and sponsors. In the field of participants of the U16 Cup a team from a crisis region or a developing country takes part. In addition, Special Needs teams from the top European clubs play their Special Needs European Cup.
