As a barista at a small and local chain, I got the opportunity to work in both busy and vibrant & slow and quality-oriented environments. I quickly recognised the importance of a well-run team as the frequency of work completed increases massively. I also got to specialise in technicalities about the coffee and how to make the best cup. Altogether this experience made me reflective within team roles and more adaptable. It was crucial to adapt and learn about their needs and by listening to those needs design the perfect product package available for them. This resulted in some great results and one of the largest sales of 2015 within the company. I got to focus a great deal on building relationships and how to communicate in a trustworthy tone. Being positioned at at Coast Guard Vessel in the Norwegian navy is one of the most multifaceted and versatile services one can have. It involves constant sailing, operations, drills, maintenance and more. From my year I gained valuable skills in teamwork, understanding the complexity of operations, leadership and flexibility, and were one of few recruits to be promoted to a seaman position. The radio position also contained handling and drifting of highly technical equipment.
