      I started the Open Educational Resources (OER) network KlasCement in 1998 as an internet project at my school where I was teaching mathematics and ICT to students in upper secondary education. Since 2002 the project got financial support from the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training. In 2007 we founded eduCentrum vzw as umbrella organization for KlasCement and other educational projects. In 2013 we moved KlasCement and almost the whole team to the Ministry of Education and Training of the Flemish Community in Brussels. By now KlasCement has become an internationally pioneering OER network for K12 resources, teacher training, art academies, adult education and a social network with more than 280 000 members (August 2021). 70% of all Flemish teachers in Flanders actively use this network for educational resources and inspiration. They share their expertise via this network. KlasCement is thé OER network of Flanders, the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, and is also used in the Netherlands by some teachers. You can visit the site in Dutch and in English. Since 2013 I've been head of the PR team of KlasCement. In August 2021 I ended my 23 year long engagement for this unique project, but I'll always be proud to be the founding father. Wishing all the best to my 25 colleagues keeping up the good work. International consultancy In 2015, I advised BTC in creating an educational e-learning portal in Palestine. In 2016, I advised VVOB in doing the same in Ecuador. Nice to know KlasCement was already a network with user profiles of teachers before Facebook existed, a search engine before Google started, a so-called web2.0 site before we knew what was meant by web 2.0 and we were sharing OER since 1998 although UNESCO only launched this definition in 2004.
