Some achievements during this period: - the establishment of Topsport Topics, helpdesk for applied sport science; - the introduction and anchoring of the 'embedded scientist' in the Dutch elite sports community; - the development of the National Sports Innovation Agenda with such items as (amongst others) optimal sleep for athletes, big data in monitoring sports training and nanotechnology in exercise physiololgy. Kamiel Maase (Manager Wetenschappelijke Ondersteuning Topsport bij NOC*NSF) met wie ik in deze periode intensief samenwerkte, schreef: Hanno van der Loo ken ik als gepassioneerd en deskundig collega. Hij is goed op de hoogte van wat speelt in de sportgerelateerde wetenschappen en kent de weg in het bijbehorende landschap. Al sinds vele jaren werkt Hanno aan het verwezenlijken van zijn droom: het (beter) verbinden van wetenschap en sport. Daarbij durft hij stelling te nemen en concreet richting te geven.
