He is driven by ensuring that Information Services are above all else a business enabler. In Hawkins Hannes lead the transformation from very dated IT infrastructure to staff being able to access all systems from any fixed or mobile device globally. This included video conferencing to desks, meeting rooms and mobile devices and the establishment of routine use of other collaboration tools. Almost all platforms became cloud hosted. Microsoft BI was introduced to enable easy extraction of financial data in meaningful formats and the inhouse development of a very advanced project dash board designed to minimise monthly reporting by project teams and maximisation of ease of analysis for early identification of project issues. A critical aspect of providing support to users is the speed of response and capability of the internal support desk. Hannes's always has KPIs for both individual and overall support desk performance and uses these to drive performance and to take cost out. This includes incorporating automation where appropriate to reduce calls to the support desk. Hannes stays up to date with the full range of hardware and software IS products and is always able to give excellent advice on development options. He is acutely aware of security requirements. Hannes can be relied upon absolutely to deliver IS projects successfully. He can also be relied upon to operate a robust IS system and to ensure that critical investments are business cased and approved ahead of time. An overall excellent and totally dependable CIO.
