Shalini Maharaj, PMP

I have worked with Hannah for four years in the Ministry of Education under the Technical Cooperation Grant, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank. Hannah has been instrumental is revamping the culture of research in the Ministry of Education by changing the perception of research from an arduous task to a dynamic, live and invaluable practice/tool in contributing to evidence based policy and practices. She has broken ground by co-authoring the Ministry's first Strategic Research Agenda and has harnessed resources nationally to create the Ministry's first Research in Education Steering Committee to enhance the sector's engagement with and in research. Hannah's work ethic has been commended by not only the Ministry of Education, but also the Inter-American Development Bank, Higher Education Institutions and international research bodies such as the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP). Hannah has spearheaded the re-branding of research throughout the Ministry of Education as well as created and executed the Ministry's first ever Brown Bag sessions to mobilise knowledge and build capacity to individuals nationwide. She has forged networks locally, regionally and internationally building new bridges for the Ministry of Education. She has orchestrated and facilitated workshops, colloquiums and ground-breaking symposiums with international policy makers and practitioners allowing the Ministry of Education to make significant headway in policies and practices. Hannah has shown diligence, passion, and creativity in every project she has managed and has moved from conducting research to inform policy to managing large scale projects impacting the entire education sector. I have observed Hannah execute her tasks, manage projects and supervise persons with grace, charisma, skill and expertise. She is a focused, motivated individual who is always improving herself, learning new skills and building her capacity professionally and personally. Hannah is a store-house of vibrancy, excitement and buoyancy with a enthusiasm that is most infectious. Her charm and brilliance are immediately noticed by all she comes into contact with, and her actions are driven by her kind (huge) heart and warm caring for all. Hannah motivates everyone who has even a brief conversation with her and her willingness to help is always endearing. She is a person who adds value to everything she does and leaves an indelible impression with each person who meets her. Hannah is a true asset to any organisation and will continue to make great change wherever she goes.
